Workshop: Seductive Surfaces for Painting & Collage - High Springs, FL

Explore new, fun and innovative approaches to collage and painting using acrylic mediums. Try new surfaces. Learn to create a multitude of surfaces with acrylic gels and grounds that can enhance the collage process. Explore grounds for washes, glazes, texture and layering, for drawing and painting and applying images. This class will be exploratory, fun and inventive. 2-Day Workshop: Print, Press & Mono-Print Workshop- Arts and Design Society of Fort Walton Beach

Time: September 29: 10:00 am - 3:00 pm and September 30: 9:00am to 12:00pm
In this newest workshop artists will learn a variety of processes to produce gorgeous backgrounds, mono-prints and one-off works of art. We will utilize OPEN acrylics, QoR Watercolor paints, Gelli Arts Printing Plates, Plexiglass Printing Plates, along with artist participant designed collagraph printing plates utilizing various gels and mediums. Prints will be “pulled” on a selection of papers including Arches 88 watercolor paper. This is a day and a half workshop (additional time should be available if we need it, depends on class size) as we will need an overnight period to allow our “printing plates” sufficient time to dry. See ADSO for paint and paper supply list. Additionally, participants are encouraged to bring their own “Gelli Arts" plate, brayer and a selection of papers to print on if they have them already in their possession. Participants may also wish to bring their own “Stencils” in order to have a greater variety of imagery at their disposal along with a pair of scissors, paint brushes, palette knife and magazine imagery, plus paper towels and a small container for water. A bag lunch and something to drink on Friday is recommended. Saturday event hours are from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

This workshop includes elements of the 'Seductive Surfaces for Painting & Collage,' 'Gel Skins & Image Transfer for Painting & Collage," and 'You Can't Really Swing If You Ain't Got That Bling' workshops. If you've never taken this workshop in the past it is an excellent primer on the widest range of acrylic options for use in your art making endeavors, including surfaces as diverse as Heavy Gel Matte, Soft Gel Gloss, Crackle Paste, Simulated Beeswax like coatings, Gels Skins, Images directly transferred into substrates and too many more to list. If you have taken this workshop in the past it may prove an excellent opportunity for a leisurely exploration of techniques that we were only able to touch upon the last time it was presented. As always and within the ever changing realm of art making and creativity we will also explore a few new tricks and techniques. Bring your questions, bring art you are currently working on and we'll endeavor to answer and complete some of those pieces while increasing your knowledge base. As always attendees should bring a paint brush or two, a small palette knife or two, some paper towels, a small container for water and whatever your preferred drawing medium might be. These drawing mediums can be any of the following: crayons, oil pastels, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, although NO drawing skills will be required for participation in the workshop. The only thing required is an open mind and a willingness to explore and have fun. I hope to see you there. Please note that the Tuesday class hours are from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM Attendees may wish to bring a bag lunch and something to drink on both days.

Everything But The Kitchen Sink - 2 Day Abstract Art Project - Pensacola FL

This is a 2 day workshop that will help artists explore a variety of textures in the creation of two complete pieces of art. This class is a wonderful follow-up for artists who have previously taken the “Seductive Surfaces” workshop although "Seductive Surfaces" is not a prerequisite. Includes slide-show feature. All necessary materials are supplied, attendees only need provide the necessary tools to apply art mediums, gels and paints. You will need 2 small brushes, a small palette knife, paper towels, small container for water and drawing mediums to make rudimentary marks. Artists will also need to bring two small primed canvases or canvas panels not exceeding twenty inches in any one direction. Please Note: If you tend to paint fast or spread a lot of materials and or have favorite mediums, you are encouraged to bring additional canvases and additional gels, mediums and paints for your personal use.

Come prepared to be amazed at the versatility and wondrous effects available through the use of Golden's Interference, Iridescent and Micaceous Iron Oxide Products. This mini two hour workshop is custom made for every conceivable skill level. Whether you've been painting for more years then you're willing to admit, or just picked up a paintbrush this morning there is something for everyone in this fast paced, fun and non-threatening workshop. We will explore a variety of techniques to make dazzling collage papers, wonderful enhancement techniques for general painting and underpainting processes that will make your work come alive. Come prepared to be amazed at the versatility and wondrous effects available through the use of Golden's Interference, Iridescent and Micaceous Iron Oxide Products. This mini two hour workshop is custom made for every conceivable skill level. Whether you've been painting for more years then you're willing to admit, or just picked up a paintbrush this morning there is something for everyone in this fast paced, fun and non-threatening workshop. We will explore a variety of techniques to make dazzling collage papers, wonderful enhancement techniques for general painting and underpainting processes that will make your work come alive. The only thing attendees need bring are a palette knife and small brush or two. Some paper toweling and a small container for water. Pencil and notebook for notes is optional.

In this newest 2-day workshop artists will learn a variety of processes to produce gorgeous backgrounds, mono-prints and one-off works of art. We will utilize OPEN acrylics, QoR Watercolor paints, Gelli Arts Printing Plates, Plexiglass Printing Plates, along with artist participant designed collagraph printing plates utilizing various gels and mediums. Prints will be “pulled” on a selection of papers including Arches 88 watercolor paper. This is a day and a half workshop (additional time should be available if we need it, depends on class size) as we will need an overnight period to allow our “printing plates” sufficient time to dry. See store for paint and paper supply list. Additionally, participants are encouraged to bring their own “Gelli Arts" plate, brayer and a selection of papers to print on if they have them already in their possession. Gel Skins and Image Transfer for Painting & Collage - Sarasota

In this exploratory and exciting workshop we will learn the art and mechanics of making dynamic "Gel Skins" for use in collage and to enhance mixed media painting skills. We will also explore a variety of methods in which to transfer an image directly into a variety of substrates. All Golden gels, mediums and paints will be supplied along with a variety or wet and dry sample in which to create with. This class is heavy on process to help the participant become familiar and comfortable with the actual creation of Gel Skins and Image Transfer techniques. Suitable for all skill levels. Participants will need to bring the following. A palette knife and brush or two, a roll of paper towels, a small container for water and whatever the artists preferred drawing material might be. Design Inspiration From the World Around You Workshop- Bay St. Louis, MS

This is another 2 day workshop that will help artists find abstract inspiration wherever they stand and “”capture” that inspiration through various “framing” techniques. Artists leave with two finished or nearly so pieces of art. Includes slide-show feature. Again all necessary materials are supplied, but artists should bring the list of items as outlined in the handout of needed supplies provided by the Bay Art Center. This workshop will also require a small digital camera or the camera that is available on most cell phones or iPads. Attendees should also plan on bringing two small canvases or canvas panels with no single dimension exceeding 20 inches. Day two class will run from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Free Acrylic and More Lecture Demo- Bay St Louis, MS

Come enjoy a free presentation on acrylic paints from A to Z. We will cover pigments, extending paints, Hi Flow and the exciting line of "OPEN" acrylics, the acrylic paint that stays wet and workable longer than regular acrylic, plus a whole lot more. There's a little something for everyone. All attendees will receive a valuable information packet and free samples of Golden products. In the "Whole Lot More" section we will cover some of Golden's newest products like the exciting line of watercolor mediums under the "QoR" label along with products from our subsidiary company Williamsburg Handmade Oil Paints. Please join us as we explore the unlimited possibilities of Golden Artist Colors Acrylic paint. We will cover a wide variety of topics and products including Heavy Body, Fluid Acrylics, Williamsburg Oil Paints, and QoR watercolors. Printmaking techniques utilizing Golden's OPEN Acrylic, artist made printing plates using collagraphic processes, watercolor printing and a whole lot more. Given the time constraints we will only be able to briefly touch upon the various techniques but every artist attendee should come away from the event with a brain jam-packed with new possibilities. For deeper in-depth coverage of a broad array of techniques touched upon in the free lecture demo artists are urged to attend the paid, hands-on workshops presented the following week on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 15, & 16, 2016. Print, Press & Mono-Print 2 Day Workshop - Santa Rosa Beach, FL

In this newest 2 day workshop (10am-4pm each day)  artists will learn a variety of processes to produce gorgeous backgrounds, mono-prints and one-off works of art. We will utilize OPEN acrylics, QoR Watercolor paints, Gelli Arts Printing Plates, Plexiglass Printing Plates, along with artist participant designed collagraph printing plates utilizing various gels and mediums. Prints will be “pulled” on a selection of papers including Arches 88 watercolor paper. This is a day and a half workshop (additional time should be available if we need it, depends on class size) as we will need an overnight period to allow our “printing plates” sufficient time to dry. All supplies are included although participants are encouraged to bring their own “Gelli Arts" plate, brayer and a selection of papers to print on if they have them already in their possession. Participants may also wish to bring their own “Stencils” in order to have a greater variety of imagery at their disposal along with paint brushes and palette knives. 140 lb watercolor paper will be supplied and additional paper will be available for purchase should attendees wish to have more printing opportunities. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own large format (22 x 30) 140 lb watercolor paper if they have it available.
