You might ask why these paintings are different from my usual style, and why does it matter. I had been searching about for a unifying theme in which to pay homage to a handful of painters from the twentieth century who have inspired and influenced me. I found the new Mini Cooper to be such an iconic shape and the perfect departure point around which to build a series of paintings. I executed the work “Let it Snow,” which I feel mimics my existing style and then went on a “Mini Bender”, painting as these inspirational artists might have envisioned this thoroughly modern, yet retro shape. I tossed into the mix a couple of paintings depicting small dogs with big attitudes, which seems to sum up the Mini Cooper perfectly. I hope that you enjoy and find the results as much fun as I had in making them.
